Hashimoto's disease is a disorder that affects your thyroid, a small gland located at the base of your neck, below your Adam's apple. The thyroid gland is part of your endocrine system, which produces hormones that coordinate many of your body's activities.
In Hashimoto's disease, also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, your immune system attacks your thyroid gland. The resulting inflammation often leads to an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism). Hashimoto's disease is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in the United States.

I have to be on medication for the rest of my life, but it's not a big deal. I'm just glad that now I can finally start to feel like myself again, and lose those ten pounds AGAIN!!!

Oh my heck that's crazy! I am so glad you figured out what was going on! You could gain 50 pounds and you would still be a skinny minnie!
Wow! Who would have thought? The symptoms seriously sounded like pregnancy but I didn't think that was in the plans yet :) I hope you'll be feeling better soon. Let me know if you need anything.
About a month ago I dropped off the preschool books you let me borrow. I was going to text you and let you know I left them at your door but I need your cell # again (my cell went through the washer and they couldn't transfer any of my numbers). Thanks again for letting me use it!
OH my! I thought you were going to say that you are pregnant also.
My mom has hypo thyroid and has had it for over 25 years. Once it is under control with the meds, you really don't realize that you even have it.
Good luck!
I'm so glad they figured it out. I was diagnosed with it right after I had Tay. Once they get your medication levels right, everything goes back to normal and you don't notice it anymore. You'll be back to your old self in no time!!
Oh my goodness!!! So Sorry but also glad that you have peace of mind. What a relief to finally know what is up!
I don't think you knew this but I have hashimoto's too. They discovered it about a year after Taylen was born. I also had to have surgery to have half of my thyroid removed!! Too fun! I've been on meds for a while now...you just get use to adding them to your morning schedule!
Hey! Just found this as I was reading all of the blogs I try and keep up with. Thought I'd stop and say hello.
tc- im glad your up and at 'em again! :)
I also thought you were going to say you were preggers! Bc those are all the symptoms I get :) Glad you got things figured out!
That stinks but I am glad that it is something controled by meds and you will be able to get back to normal in no time! We will have to get together soon. We are moving to Texas at the end of July.
